The month of Sha`ban was called this name because of the ramification of the Arab tribes and their separation of war after their retreat from them in the month of Rajab, when they were forbidden to them, and the Messenger Muhammad, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, used to fast this great month. He used to fast until we say he does not break his fast and he breaks the fast until we say not to fast, so I did not see the Messenger of God complete the fasting month except Ramadan, and what I saw is more fasting than in Shaban
