the battle of taif | Islamic expansions
After Hawazen and Thaqeef fled the land of Hunayn, they sought refuge in the fortresses of Taif and the Muslim army followed them, despite the fact that the number of infidels was twice the number of Muslims, and despite the scandal that befell them; As the women and the money became the spoils of the Muslims, but they did not think about correcting the situation and getting out of their crisis. Because fear had roiled in their hearts, and when the Messenger of God - may God bless him and grant him peace - saw that they were fortified and not descended into fighting, he imposed a siege on them, then the Messenger of God - may God bless him and grant him peace - began to use the means to get them out, so Salman al-Farisi ordered the making of a catapult. So that the Muslims would throw stones at the forts of Taif, and ordered him to make wooden tanks; In order for the soldiers to take shelter with them from the enemy's arrows when advancing to the fortress, and indeed the Muslims managed to break a part of the fortress wall, then tried to storm it, but the people of Taif invaded them using the heated thistle, inflicting severe injuries among the Muslims, and forcing them to retreat, but the Messenger of God did not give up.
